Your photos stay on your device.

Edit Live plays, edits and saves your Live Photos on your device. It has no account, no ads and no tracking. To find bugs and see which features are used, it sends anonymous usage and crash data, never your photos or videos. This policy explains what the app accesses, sends and stores.

Who provides Edit Live

Edit Live is made by the developer of EditAll. Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].

Data we collect

Edit Live has no account, no third-party advertising and no cross-app tracking. It uses PostHog's EU service, through EditAll's analytics proxy at t.editall.app, for product analytics and crash diagnostics. PostHog receives:

  • A random installation identifier, created when the app is installed. Events and an installation profile are linked using it; it is not linked to your name, email or Apple account.
  • App and device details, such as the app version, device model, operating system version, language and time zone.
  • Which screens you open and what you do with features, such as how many Live Photos the gallery shows, whether photo access is full or limited, gallery settings you change, and, when you save, share or cancel a video, its number of clips, length, speed, look, border, and sound and trim settings.
  • Crash, hang and error reports, including stack data, and launch and performance measurements that Apple's MetricKit provides.

As with any internet request, PostHog receives your device's IP address when this data is sent, which can indicate an approximate location such as your country. Edit Live does not send photo or video content, photo identifiers, file names, photo locations, contact details or Apple account information to PostHog, and it does not record the screen. Edit Live does not sell personal information.

What Edit Live accesses on your device

Depending on the permissions you grant, Edit Live may access:

  • Photos and videos in your Apple Photo Library, to show your Live Photos and play their video. You can give access to your whole library or to selected photos only.
  • Permission to add to your library, to save the videos you make.
  • App preferences, such as your gallery layout, chosen look, border, playback speed, and loop direction.

You choose whether to grant Photo Library access. Edit Live cannot read or add to your library without it.

How information is used

Edit Live uses your Live Photos only to display them, apply the look and border you choose, and create the videos you ask for. All of this processing happens on your device. Edit Live does not analyze faces or the content of your photos.

Usage and crash data is used to fix problems, improve performance, and understand which features are used. It is not used for advertising.

Storage and retention

Preferences are stored on your device. To play smoothly, Edit Live keeps a limited number of temporary, downscaled copies of recently viewed clips and still previews on your device, and creates temporary files while it prepares, saves, or shares a video. These are removed when they are no longer needed, are replaced as the app runs, and can be cleared by the operating system. Removing the app deletes all of its data.

Videos you save are stored in your Photo Library, where you manage them like any other video. Edit Live never changes or deletes your original Live Photos.

iCloud Photos and Apple services

If a Live Photo is stored in iCloud Photos, Apple's frameworks may download it to your device so Edit Live can play it. That transfer is provided by Apple and is governed by your Apple account settings and Apple's privacy terms. Edit Live never receives your Apple account credentials.

If you choose to share diagnostics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and usage statistics that it collects. Apple controls what these contain, and they do not include your photos.

Sharing

Edit Live shares a video only when you tap Share and choose a destination, such as Messages, Mail, or another app. That destination receives the video under its own terms and privacy policy.

This website

The Edit Live pages are part of the editall.app website, which uses PostHog and may use Google Analytics to measure visits, clicks, device and browser type, and errors. The EditAll privacy policy describes the website's analytics in full. Website analytics is separate from the Edit Live app's usage and crash data described above.

Support messages

If you contact support, the message includes your email address and anything you choose to send. We use it only to answer you and to fix problems, and keep it only as long as reasonably necessary for that. Do not send photos or sensitive information unless it is needed for your request.

Your choices

  • Change or revoke Photo Library access for Edit Live in the Settings app on your device.
  • Delete videos you made in the Photos app or wherever you shared them.
  • Delete all of Edit Live's data on your device by removing the app.

Children's privacy

Edit Live is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The usage and crash data described above does not identify who is using the app. Parents and guardians control device permissions and should supervise sharing from the device where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Edit Live's features or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when a material update is published.
